Where would I qualify?

Hey Everyone,

It's been my life-long dream to work in law enforcement, specifically something federally. I never purchased drugs myself, but I hung out with the wrong crew, and they were always around.

I've done marijuana approximately 20-30 times, cocaine 3-4 times, and I smoked angel dust and one time passed around a cigarette with crack (I know, big mistake - I had no idea until after). I've also done steroids. I stopped all drug use last year.

Am I screwed? Should I start looking in another field?

The policies posted at the top of this forum give a longer answer than Jim1348's, but he is correct. You are certainly free to look at various agency websites and see what their specific policies, if published, state but the ones posted will be generally consistent across agencies. Your mix of substances used and the length of time since your last use are going to be fatal to an application.

Not much of a life long dream if you only started paying attention in 2011.

I'm sure the DARE officer told you in grade school: "Stay in school, keep out of trouble, don't do drugs". I don't know about the first two, but you've failed the last part pretty completely.

Yep, you're done federally. And any state or local agency that I'm familiar with wouldn't consider you either. Time to consider another career field.

Plus, looking at your user name, I'm not sure if you are a fake n00b, or just displaying astonishingly poor decision making.
