Air Interdiction Agent - CBP Pilot OPEN

For all of those in the "aluminum tubing" profession... CBP has finally opened public slots for pilots nationwide. I would encourage everyone who meets the min's to apply. Great job description if you're interested in combining aviation and LE.

Job's up on USAJOBS under 2181...happy hunting!

J.

FYI. CBP Air is now about illegal immigration from the air support role. The days of interdicting air smugglers as they try to land on remote highways in South Florida or in Texas/Arizona are over.

Yes they still have that responsibility but the actual intercepts of that nature are pretty much nill now.

But if you want a secure govt job involving aviation, CBP has openings.

Just an FYI

I remenber the days when we could call on the boys at JAX or out on Long Island to come help with a "Job" or a load of dope. Too bad that those days are gone.

CBP AIR is still working with ICE, CBP AIR is still inserting SRT/SWAT teams for arrest warrants and search warrants, CBP AIR is still providing security for national events and CBP AIR is still interdicting dope smugglers crossing the border via vehicles, backpackers and believe it or not air. Yes! CBP AIR is doing immigration but also many legacy missions continue.

Please, humor us with the location of any real warrant insert (not training) that was done by CBP Air in the last year. The NCR airspace security mission went to the Coast Guard and I do believe that the last couple of NSSE's were covered by the Coasties as well. There are VERY, VERY limited interdiction missions being flown and hardly any end-game participation by the aircrews. Lets call it what it is. CBP Air is a little bit of legacy Customs work and whole lot of legacy Border Patrol work. As far as ICE support is concerned, it is somewhere between 5 and 10% of the support that AMO gave to the legacy Customs Office of Investigations prior to the merger.

Lets also remember that CBP Air can't do anything without the local Border Patrol sector Chief's permission.

USCG has the shoot-down mission over DCA airspace. It took it over from Customs Air. The only assets not under direct control by BP Chiefs are the P-3's out of Corpus and JAX.

This is per a conversation I had with a CBP Air Branch Chief last week, who is a personal friend from 10 years back.

Just an FYI.

Look no further than ICE's "Operation Frozen Timber" to see that CBP Air is still doing thier legacy missions.

Not knocking a good operation, nor knocking CBP Air, and I don't want this thread to get into that, but using helicopters to bring marijuana into the northern border from Canada is not something CBP Air was spooled up for. I am sure they provided a support role in the investigation.

I know they didn't launch Citations because the P-3's saw the helicopters. That type of mission, interdicting targets detected by AMOC, is pretty much, but not completely, quiet now.
