Are you referring to the S&W M&P .40c?
Gonzo

Gun is tool

A gun is a tool, like a hammer. If you asked me what should be the next hammer you buy, then I would ask what kind of job are you going to do with it. That being said, every serious pistolero should invest in a good quality .22 pistol. It will improve your marksmanship, cheap to shoot and fun to boot !

While I have never shot the particular gun you are asking about, the best advice I can give you is to find a friend who may have one and shoot it yourself. If none of your friends have one, many gun ranges rent guns to shoot on their range for a nominal fee...there is a good chance they will have the one you are looking for available; it may be worth while to call around and ask. Even better, some places will refund the $$ you spent to rent the gun if you end up buying a gun from them. Hope this helps!

There was a smith and wesson polymer one that I heard some not so flattering things about. I think the M&P that Gonzo is referring too came out after and may have improved.

I have a glock in .40 that I like, and a springfield XD in 9mm that I really like.

As GS said, it all depends on what the duty is too.

Really depends on what you're looking for in a weapon. Duty carry, off-duty, home defense, etc. Then does it fit your hand, etc.

yes, i was reffering to the S&W m&p...i should clarify as to what I intend to use the gun for...it isnt a duty weapon as much as it is a gun for concealment, and home defense. I appreciate all the advice/ info and after some deliberating i made my decision and ended up purchasing the s&w m&p 40c..their compact version of the full size 40. As soon as i get a chance to take it to the range ill post my thoughts

I have the full size M&P in .357Sig and I love it. I'm so fond of it that I plan to pick up a compact version as well. Very nice pistol.
