Note: FYI, we are only tracking post Phase II candidates on this list to keep the administration down. Sorry to all that have PM'd me that are not to that stage yet, I'll be glad to add you after you pass Phase II. Nothing personal. Also, I do not add anyone to this list unless they ask to be added. If you think your name should be here and it is not, send me a PM.

Jan/Feb Class

What's the rumor about 5-6 classes in January/February? First time I hear about it.

Some of us, me included, have heard from our AC's that there is 2 or 3 classes in Jan and Feb in the schedule.

When I passed Phase II in Sept, I was told I was on track for a Feb NAC class.

NAT turnaround time

I will preface with "I know there is no way to expect anything in this process", but it seems that from the timelines I have seen the most standard turnaround between Phase II and NAT is about five months. Does this jive with the intel that some of you veterans are receiving? I just got my Phase II invite and the possibility of becoming an agent is starting to seem more real.

does anyone know if there is common wait time between p1/results and getting a pII date or has it been all over?

deliboy: I think the 'standard' answer is yeah, roughly 5-6 months between passing Phase II and getting "the Call". However, understand that 5-6 months is basically the fastest you will be processed. I haven't heard of anyone going through this process in less than 10 months or so total, and that was blazingly fast. Once you pass Phase II, there are any number of hang ups that can slow you down - medical followups, PFT retests, hard to find or uncooperative employers in your Background...

jazba: Easy answer is that it's all over. A lot of it depends on when your region's next P2 event is, if it's already full, etc. I got the letter telling me I passed Phase I in like the end of April this year. It was mid-June before I got an invitation to take Phase II in August.

My AC said the same to me. Passed PII in Sept, expect NAC in Feb.

My weekly update was actually one of the last posts in the prior thread, it was moved to start this thread.

Must have been the ghost of Dr. Freud playing tricks on us.

Phase II

It really all depends on your qualifications.

Irish Grunt, who recently entered the academy, probably put it best a few months ago.

I couldn't find the post so I will paraphrase what I remember. When you pass Phase I, you are looked at as to your competitiveness on a national scale. If your AC thinks you’re competitive right away, then they will submit your name, if not, then you won't hear anything. You could stay in this "limbo" of not competitive enough (yet), forever. If you read through the many FBI threads you can see the backgrounds those that got the call possessed. It's pretty impressive, but that is the caliber of the applicant you’re up against.

Just remember, your Phase II request (sent in by your AC, who nominates you) is sent to FBI HQ and someone at HQ takes all the apps from all over the country and picks the most competitive from across the U.S. Your AC has a good idea what level of competitiveness you need to get a slot, but it's the ultimate decision at HQ that will decide it.

If you’re not competitive right after Phase I, you will sit in limbo until your AC thinks your competitive enough for a Phase II slot. At certain times that may require you to do nothing (probably not in this day and time), and sitting around doing nothing but hoping is not what most applicants are made of anyway.

You can find ways to improve your resume, graduate degree, become completely fluent in a new language (a tough task and a thread all by itself), a new certification maybe, a new/second job with more professional experience, military service, etc, etc, etc. The problem with this is that you will never know what will trigger your ACs interest in you as a Phase II applicant. If your going to undertake something to "pad" your resume, pick something that you would enjoy doing even if you weren't going after the FBI. For example; going to law school because you heard the FBI needs more lawyers, even though you hate the idea of being a lawyer or going to law school. Your miserable for 3-4 years only to find out that the FBI needs CPA's more than lawyers. So pick something you have a passion for, there are dozens of ways to make yourself look better, so find one you can use even if the FBI never calls back.

My advice would be to have a conversation with your AC after you pass Phase I about your competitiveness, and if you’re not competitive, find out what s/he thinks would make you competitive. The term "competitive" is a fluid term that could change at any moment. Last year when the FBI announced its big hiring push the competitiveness went up, so in the future it will probably have to come down. That’s why I said earlier that you could conceivably do nothing and still be competitive down the road. The level of competitiveness could come back to you, and out of nowhere you get a phase II invite some day.

Sorry this post was so long but there isn’t a short answer.

I don't know anything specific about class dates or the number of classes in coming months, though another poster on another board just announced today that he received a call for a January NAT class. I've got my fingers crossed for all of you waiting on the call that you receive a similar call this week.

I just wanted to pass the good news to everyone. I received THE CALL for the January 3rd NAT class, on the condition that I pass my final shot at the PFT on December 3rd.

Congratulations, that is like the world's best Christmas/Chanukkah/Ramadan present ever. Plenty of notice, you get to spend the holidays with your family, and a nice literal goal to work towards in your training. I salute you.
