I passed my interview today, just waiting on a conditional offer after HQ grades the written tests.

The two deputies that interviewed me were awesome. They gave me an opportunity to ask questions and I had three or four.

The way they described the career progression was:

GS5
GS7
GS9
GS11 (here you are converted to 1811 and LEAP is added)
GS 12
** you are at each grade for one year.

I also asked about career progression passed the journeyman level and obviously they have supervisors who run fugitive TFs. In addition to this:
They told me they have non supervisory GS 13s that work WITSEC, sex crimes and other unique investigations.

Can anyone describe U.S marshal’s participation in some other unique investigative duties besides WITSEC, Fugitive Apprehension and sex crimes?

This stuff sounds awesome but I also heard about Marshal Involvement on bank robbery task forces and JTTF?

Does anyone know how hard it is to make into these positions and what other unique opportunities are available to Marshals?

For the Region 8 interview selection that starts Monday, what time does everyone think it starts? I have heard 12am. I am assuming that would be PST? I remember for the registration session it was 9am PST. I don't think the e-mail states what time exactly, it just states 10/26/09. Any help is appreciated.

...Region 8.

I received an invite to a interview session for Region 8 but I have a few friends that went to the hiring session and have not heard a thanks but no thanks letter via snail mail and did not receive an invitation via email for the interview session; they are somewhat in limbo. Anyone know if you did not receive a email for a interview session if you are to expect a thanks but no thanks via snail mail? I am out of Portland, OR. Thanks!

Hey Chadliey,

I am in the same situation as your friends... I have no clue! Maybe if some people fail the interview or the process somewhere down the line, we would maybe get invited? Any marshals know anything?

Thanks,

Steve

I got my invitation to interview along with everyone else and have a friend that didn't. He did, however, get an email today stating that the service was having technical problems and he was supposed to have received an invite. They may get to you yet...good luck!

The process isn't necessarily a one stop show. If you don't get an invitation this go around, you still have a shot. They will do it in waves. If you get a "thanks, but no thanks" letter, you're out. That's how it went down when I went through in 07.

The bottom of the page for the interview invite states something along the lines of, "If you were not selected for an interview this go around, there are always cancellations." I would take that to mean that if you didn't get an invite right away, that you aren't out of the process either. Just my interpretation, though.

Appointment

Now, if only they would respond to my interview scheduling request... The wait is painful! Has anyone else in Region 8 received an appointment?
